| fourzerotwo: 'You'll play from multiple perspectives, "Roach" just being the main one.' (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) August 17, 2009 at 12:00 am |

I had to create a blog to post the screen-capture of the message, it was the easiest way to show it's legit :)

| RPG Land: RPG Deals 8/16 - 8/22 (Mass Effect) August 17, 2009 at 12:00 am |
| Target has Mass Effect for $14. Most Target stores will have the regular copies, but there's a few Platinum 2-Disc Editions with the 'Bring Down the Sky' bonus content. If Mass Effect 2's trailer got you going then picking up the first one is a good way to both refresh and used the saved data for your next playthrough. Of course, you can buy it from Microsoft's new direct download service, but you lose out on the free DLC chapter and have to spend $6 extra. Not having a disc to get inevitably scratched up is a pretty good deal on its own, though.

| Rage Designer Promises No Monster Closets (Rage) August 16, 2009 at 12:00 am |
| One of the major criticism's lobbed at Doom 3 was its reliance on a "monster closet" system for spawning enemies into a level when trigger points were reached. It may have provided for plenty of frights on the first play through, but many gamers simply memorized the spawn points making short work of Zombies, Cyberdemons, and Hell Knights. With Rage, the developers are trying to avoid the criticisms of the past and make gamers rethink the concept of an "id game." In a recent interview with 1UP, Matt Hooper, leader designer on Rage, gave strong reassurance that gamers have seen the last of those dreadful closets.

| IRS Saves Millions by Using Second Life to Market Its Employment Opportunities (Second Life) August 16, 2009 at 12:00 am |
| In 2008, the IRS project team established a presence in the Second Life virtual world with the goal of exploring the potential use of this environment for recruitment and training purposes. The team has created the IRS Careers Island and constructed a sky platform with an IRS Careers Center and an IRS Education Center. A number of building design configurations have been tested. A number of education and entertainment features have also been built to attract residents to the simulation (sim). All basic construction has been completed and the sim has been opened to the general population in Second Life since February 2009. Nearly identical to brand marketing in the physical world marketplace, brand marketing in the SL virtual world involves placing brand messaging in high traffic venues. Unlike the physical world, the IRS has actually built its own venue that provides excellent marketing opportunities. In the physical world, the IRS could spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, on sponsoring a race car that displays their brand in a field of thirty or more other cars. In the SL virtual world, the IRS has spent a few thousand dollars to build complete entertainment and communications venue that includes a race course.

| GamesCom 09: Media Molecule To Announce Updated User Profiles, New Levels & Music Packs (LittleBigPlanet) August 16, 2009 at 12:00 am |
| PushSquare; a snippet from the article: "Discussing the possibility of improved user profiles, an LBP staffer confirmed that such an update was "imminent" and a part of the latest "Leerdammer" update. Apparently the functionality is "cooler than anything" the user base have asked for, so hopefully we'll get some really mental, detailed profiles. In addition to that, the team discussed the length of time it takes to create a Media Molecule level and clarified that there is a full 10 weeks involved in getting an "official" level finished. However, despite the long level building process, the team did conclude that new levels are on the way along with a music-only pack. The music-only pack will include a few new tracks for use in levels, a welcome addition if you ask us."

| Linden Lab Announces 2nd Life Support for Plug-Ins (Second Life) August 16, 2009 at 12:00 am |
| As a part of his keynote presentation today at this year's Second Life Community Convention, Linden Lab's Tom Hale has unveiled a new plug-in framework for the Second Life viewer. The Second Life viewer has hitherto been restricted to rendering media content that was supported either by its browser component or by the use of Apple's Quicktime. Quicktime is certainly quite workable, but only provides a subset of the extensive range of potentially viewable media that's out there. The introduction of the LLMedia API looks to change all that, by allowing a straightforward plug-in system to extend the viewer's ability to render various arbitrary kinds of parcel media.

For this go-around, players will harness the power of a sought-after artifact to combat Hitler's own freakish army of evil. Wolfenstein features robust online gameplay that includes three modes: Team Deathmatch, Objective, and Stopwatch.
